Questions for Study and Reflection
1. Recall the time you heard and responded to the gospel of Jesus. Explain.
2. Read Col. 3:1-17. In your own words explain what Paul is referring to in verses 1-4, specifically by the words “raised with Christ” and “For you died, and your life …”
3. Explain what Paul means when he says in vs. 5 and 8 that we are to “Put to death” and also “rid ourselves” of the things he lists. What are these attributes characteristic of? What does he mean by taking off the old self and putting on the new self (vs. 9-10)?
4. If you were to describe the life in Christ, what words would you use? Why is it necessary to grow in this life? Why doesn’t it occur immediately?
5. Review the points under II above. Do you agree? Why or why not?
6. In your quiet time this week, reflect upon your journey to date in your new life in Jesus. What words would you use to characterise it? Take time with the Lord to listen to His Word and His Spirit and respond as He leads with thanksgiving.
