I. Prayer is the Humble yet Bold Seeking of Father God’s Presence through Jesus by the Spirit. Then Moses said, “Now show me your glory.” (Exo. 33:18) “My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?” (Psa. 42:2) “I want to know Christ …” (Phil. 3:10a)
A. In revival prayer we seek a greater revelation of the glory of God (Exo. 33:18; Psa. 42:2; Phil. 3:10a). Acts 4:23-31 – … “29Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. 30Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” 31After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.
B. The ultimate need of the Christian is to know God through Jesus (John 17:3). John 17:3 - Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
C. Pondering God’s redeeming goodness and sovereignty in salvation evokes within us a glorious revelation of who we are as His people (2 Cor. 4:6).
2 Cor. 4:6 (KJV) – For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
D. Christians are those who have seen the Glory of God in Christ Jesus (John 1:14, 18).
John 1:14 – The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 1:18 – No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father’s side, has made him known.
II. Call Out to God through Prayer for an Ever-Greater Revelation of His Presence and Glory (Acts 2:17-19).
Acts 2:17-19 - “And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of my spirit on all flesh.… And on my menservants and on my maidservants I will pour out my spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.… I will show wonders in heaven above and signs in the earth beneath.…” Questions for further study and review: 1. What comes to your mind when you think of praying and what the need for praying for revival? 3. Read each point and subpoint along with the scripture given. Do you agree or disagree? Why? 4.
