I. The LORD Almighty is Truly an Awesome God (Isa. 40:12-17).
A. God the Omnipotent is able to accomplish everything that concerns us today (vs. 12).
B. God the Omniscient has perfect knowledge of His creation and sustains it all (vs. 13-14).
C. God the Omnipresent knows each of us and our situations perfectly (vs. 15-17).
II. Almighty God has made the Way for a Personal Relationship with You.
Questions for Study and Reflection
1. What are some of your personal pet peeves regarding words in the English language that are misused, overused, or completely abused? What about the word used in point I above? How have you used this word used? What does the word really mean?
2. Read Isa. 40:1-31. What possible errors could Israel possibly take from Isaiah’s statement regarding God as her shepherd (vs. 11)? Why is it important for Isaiah to correct any misconceptions?
3. Recalling what Isaiah is prophesying regarding Israel’s future, why does Isaiah make the statements he does in vs. 12-17?
4. What is Isaiah attempting to convey to the Israelites by using the questions of vs. 12? What is Isaiah trying to get the Israelites to think about?
5. What is Isaiah attempting to convey to the Israelites by using the question in vss. 13-14? What is Isaiah trying to get the Israelites to think about?
6. What does Isaiah make the statements he does in vss. 15-17? Who is Isaiah referring to as the nations in these verses? What is Isaiah attempting to convey to the nation of Israel?
7. Reflect upon these verses again and the points A through C above. What situation(s) in your life is causing you concern? What are you going to do about these in light of the God who is portrayed in these passages? Why not spend some quiet time with Him and take your burdens to Him now.
