Questions for Study and Reflection
1. Recall a time you were looking for something or someone but completely missed it or that person because you had a different idea beforehand of what that thing or person would be. What was it? Did you get it in the end? Why or why not? What caused you to see or find it?
2. Read John 10:22-42. What do you know about the Feast of Dedication, Feast of Lights, or Hanukah?
3. What were the Jewish leaders looking for in Messiah (see point I above)? Why were they unable to see Jesus for who He really was?
4. Read carefully Jesus words in vs. 25-30. What did He say He was, did, or was going to do?
5. Read vs. 31-39 and Psalm 82. Explain what is going on here in your own words. Why did Jesus bring up this technical argument? Was it conclusive? Was it ever going to be sufficient?
6. Do you agree with point III above? Why or why not?
7. Reflect this week on what preconceived notions you may have regarding your faith, your walk, salvation, etc. which may prevent you from taking hold of a greater heart reality of who Jesus is and what He desires to be in your life. Take time to prayer it over. Perhaps even talk to a trusted friend.
