Faithful and Fruitful

FAITHFUL & FRUITFUL | 1 Corinthians 3. 1-9
COMMUNION SUNDAY, 05 NOV 2017 | Pastor Patrick
There is not one amongst us who cannot say we desire a faithful and fruitful ministry; the question is – how does one achieve it? Over the next 2 weeks, we will look at this from Paul’s letter to the troubled church in Corinth.
This week, we look at the problem how we perceive church leaders.
OUTLINE:
1. Bottle-Fed, Developmentally Delayed & Merely Human [v1-4]
a. A 50 year old in the Kiddie Pool
b. Failed use of power in the Spirit
c. A hammer in the hand of a Mennonite carpenter.
2. A New Way to Be Human [v5-9]
a. A common purpose and a myriad of ways to fulfil the mission.
b. Avoid the “comparison con”
c. Plant, Water, Grow, Repeat.

QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION OR GROUP STUDY
Who are some leaders in your faith journey you have elevated? Are there any you have devalued in comparison? Explain.
What is important for the ministry of a leader to be faithful, to be fruitful?
When have you put your own expectations of leadership above your own commitment to ministry? What was the outcome?
Where have you witnessed or experienced excellent ministry from an unlikely or unexpected source?
Why do we elevate one’s ministry over another? Is it ever right? Is it always wrong?
How can you apply the right amount of “perspective corrective” to your current situation?
