Questions for Study and Reflection
1. Recall a time when you experienced a very refreshing time, physically, emotionally or spiritually. What was it? How did you feel before and after? What caused it to come to an end?
2. Read John 13:1-17. What is happening in this section of text in regards to Jesus’ overall earthly ministry? How did the devil have access to plant such a thought in the heart of Judas?
3. Read point II and its subpoints. Do you agree with these? Why or why not? What other possible explanations may exist for this section of text, specifically noting Jesus’ words in verse 10. Why does Peter adamantly refuse to have Jesus wash his feet? Why does he want to be washed all over?
4. Read point III and its subpoints. Do you agree with these? Why or why not? How to we come to have a heart like that of Jesus?
5. Reflect on this section of text, especially verses 12-17. What is the status of your heart in comparison to the heart of Jesus? Why it is important not only to hear these words but to do them (see vs. 17)? What do we gain by putting them in practice?
